About Us

James Johnson and Carole Isenhart, husband & wife full-time artist team, whose studio is located in the country near the Mississippi River near Fulton, Illinois. As Indigo Turtle Art, James creates original porcelain designs ~ finished jewelry & components. Hand-painted one-at-a-time, each piece is fired 3 - 4 times creating an item which is lightweight, durable and will never fade or tarnish. Carole creates beaded and Kumihimo braided necklaces which compliment James porcelain. Carole also handles multiple e-commerce sites, social media, marketing, photography, customer service and more.
 

Attention jewelry designers, our popular porcelain cabochons & components are perfect for your wire/metal work, beadwork or mixed media projects. Ask us about quantity & teacher discounts if you would like to use our porcelain in your designs or in a class you teach. Availability from current stock varies, custom orders welcome! During studio season (December - January and April -  May) custom orders may take 6 - 8 weeks to complete.  During show season (February - March and June - November) custom orders may take up to 14 weeks to complete. We've purchased a medium sized kiln to go with our small & large kilns to help us process special orders faster, please contact us with your ideas & timelines we'd love to collaborate with you! In their spare time James rides his bicycle for fun and as his main transportation when not traveling to a show, he also enjoys yoga at their local Y. Carole enjoys multiple crafts from sewing & crochet to woodworking & painting and going for walks.
