About

Indigo Turtle Art , James Johnson and Carole Isenhart, husband and wife, full-time artist teamAs Indigo Turtle Art, James Johnson and Carole Isenhart husband and wife full-time artist team, create one-at-a-time jewelry from their home studio in rural Fulton, Illinois.

James creates unique porcelain jewelry & designer components. Starting with a bag of soft white clay the shapes are hand-formed and hand-painted one-at-a-time.  The vibrantly colored designs are permanently sealed under clear gloss glaze and James' mystical magical iridescent final glaze makes his work irresistible. Three to four firings in a ceramic kiln are required as the layers are built up. Swarovski crystal accents are added after the final firing. The finished items are very lightweight, comfortable to wear, and will never fade or tarnish.

Carole creates beaded and Kumihimo braided necklaces that can be worn alone or paired with James' unique porcelain pendants. She also handles e-commerce, social media, marketing, photography, and customer service.

In their spare time, James rides his bicycle for fun, exercise, and as his main form of transportation when not traveling to a show, he also enjoys yoga. Carole enjoys multiple hobbies in addition to jewelry making, including sewing, remodeling, and power walks while listening to business development podcasts.
